BIOTECHNOLOGICAL METHODS OF EXTRACTION OF RARE AND PRECIOUS METALS FROM PRODUCTS OF BURNING POWER COAL

1. Main characteristics, description of the offer.

Essence of development consists in the use of biotechnological methods of extraction of rare and precious metals from wastes of Ukrainian power and metallurgical plants. The method is based on using active microorganisms with practically useful properties. This approach is ecologically safe, energy-efficient and resource-saving, modern and most perspective method.

2. Innovations and advantages of the offer.

Technical and economic characteristics of biotechnological method of extraction of rare and precious metals make it competitive in the domestic market of existent methods (the method of extraction of metals is on the patenting stage).

3. Patent search and market substitutes’ comparative analysis.

The based on informative search a comparative analysis testifies that on the set of methodical approaches the biotechnological method of metals extraction with the use of active microorganisms has a several advantages above existent analogues. The developed biotechnological method is simple, can be realized at a normal temperature and pressure, without the using strong acids and forming intermediate toxic products, which does it ecologically safe.

4. Domain of application. Potential customers of the final product / service.

The method can be implemented at the coal industry, ferrous metallurgy and energy, ecological and environmental organizations.

5. Profitability, market attractiveness, introduction and sales costs, price.

The development belongs to energy-efficient and resource-saving technologies, and has an environmental orientation. The developed biotechnological method aimed at obtaining additional rare and precious metals from untraditional raw material – technogenic wastes of Ukrainian power and metallurgical plants. Use of the biotechnological methods contributes to the fact that these wastes lose their negative impact on the environment and human. The biotechnological method of metals extraction by microorganisms does not need expensive equipment, scarce reagents, and characterized low an energy consumption and human resources.

6. Current stage of development. Existent results of introduction.

Recommendations for approbation of the developed biotechnology on waste from burning power coal prepared. The model tests of the developed method were conducted for the extraction of rare (germanium, zirconium) metals from industrial leaden-zinc concentrate and waste of power plants.
